Marc Van Wonterghem kicked things off in 1967 with his very first dance nights in his parents’ ballroom, inspired by the vibrant Rosenmontag carnival in Cologne. From the start, innovation was key—his very first turntable was built using parts from an old jukebox.
Not long after, Marc opened the doors to Diedjies in the heart of Kuurne, following a successful run in Harelbeke. It quickly became the Sunday hotspot. Belgian and international stars like Eddy Wally, Urbanus, Will Tura, and Geert Hoste lit up the stage, while DJ Marc—then known as DJ Marco—kept the crowd moving. With charismatic DJs and clever promotion, led by marketeer Joost De Smet, Diedjies evolved into a household name.
For over half a century, Diedjies has hosted weekly parties featuring top acts and unforgettable nights. From stylish retro events like “Back to the Roots” to high-energy themed nights and live performances by artists such as Jebroer and Flemming, the club continues to push boundaries.
Today, Diedjies is proud to be one of the country’s oldest and hippest nightclubs, already 58 years strong.
